They Call Him 'Coach'

But, I call him nephew...
This morning I saw a post on Facebook that said my nephew's team was going to be playing our Vikings lacrosse team. So, I told the migraine that I woke up with to 'go pound sand', and rallied enough to be a photographer for the morning. A couple of extra Excedrin never killed anyone, right? I would have hated missing that game! I was so glad to be there, soaking up sunshine, breathing in the fresh-cut grass smell from the ball-fields, and watching a vicious game of lacrosse.  He felt bad that I had to see him being angry with his team, but they lost so it was completely understandable. They have some tactics and skills that they need to work on, and I thought it was great to see him at work. He is very passionate about the game, (Always has been!) and it shows. Nothing wrong with that!

It's a dog's life?

The license plate caught my eye, and I just had to add it to my collection. Then, I noticed the rest and realized that someone has a great sense of humor! The stickers made me smile, but as they drove away, I laughed out loud...there's another little somethin' hanging down under the rear bumper!

Happy Facebook Day!

He's 13 today!
This picture is from 2013, after the only race that he's run with me. So far. I keep hoping that he'll join me for another 'cause we had fun!
I hope you have a great birthday, and enjoy your new ventures into social media!!

4th Annual Teal Ribbon 5k Run/Walk

This event is sponsored by Norway Savings Bank to raise funds and awareness for our local Sexual Assault and Prevention Response ServiceIt was a fun and tough (It was WINDY!) group of athletes that came out to traverse the length of Main Street in South Paris, twice.

This was their first time running past me, but these 2 held the lead and placed first for males and females in the running race. They were flying and looked strong!
This event brought out many families...this boy was part of a family of 11 representing all ages that walked together...they were bundled right up against the cold but wearing big smiles!
These guys were having a blast hanging out & volunteering at the half-way point water stop where they greeted everyone who needed a drink before continuing on to the finish line. They made a lot of athletes very happy!
This dad did a great job of making the journey as much fun as possible for his kiddos since 3.1 miles is quite a ways for the littlest athletes. They completed the course though, and he was so proud of them!
And, you know me - I have to capture the 4-legged registrants as well. There were 2 in this event and they were both enjoying walking with their families!

Not only prickly, but a bit pissy too!

He really didn't want my company and stalked off into the woods when I insisted on taking pictures!

Vikings 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team

This was his first time running a relay, and you can see his nerves. He was terrified that he would drop the baton. He didn't! His friends were very encouraging and helpful. They're such a good team!!

Happy 15th Birthday!

School Project

It's amazing what the boys have made in their pre-engineering class! Today he made a checker board, complete with checkers. Now he is writing the script for a 'how-to' video about playing the game. There are so many facets to a project like this and he is learning a lot of different skills.

Good mornin'!

Killin' Time

Track practice is running late this afternoon...
Oh well.
Waiting isn't so bad when you can do it by the lake!

Oops! Fender-Bender!!

They looked quite intense while discussing the damage, but the exchange seemed friendly enough. Not much harm done, thankfully.

Meet Marshall Ruffin

Marshall Ruffin was the opening act for the Crystal Bowersox show. Dear God, can that man sing! I don't think that I have ever enjoyed gospel more. He also played back-up guitar for Crystal and their voices together were amazing. My niece was super impressed as well. We'll be following his career and looking for his music in the future!

And tonight we got to see her in concert!

It was an evening of family, amazing food, incredible music, and fun! Crystal is such a friendly, 'down-to-Earth' person that you feel like she's an old friend. We got to visit with her before the show and listen to a couple of acoustic songs - her soulful version of the classic 'Bobby McGee' & then she picked her way through a song that she is working on writing right now. I loved that my niece got to sit next to her and watch her thinking her way through a new song. It's such an interesting process and so cool that she shared it with us. I shared with her my memories & pictures of that night at the Grand Ole Opry. She talked about it for a few minutes and told me that she appreciated me reminiscing with her.
Her show was every bit as incredible as I knew it would be. Her voice has a range and strength that sounds so incredible through an array of songs that were bluesy, country, gospel and rockin'. The show went late, but even after 3 encores, I don't think anyone wanted it to end. We were all having so much fun!
