The end of a successful season!

This evening's award ceremony was the bittersweet end of Nordic Season. It's hard to believe it's over all ready. He earned a KVAC Academic Award, and the Coach's Award. I'm so proud of him for all of his efforts!

Biathlon

They raced in a biathlon at Roberts Farm today, and had a great time competing again. They worked hard, and each won their age group! But guess who was 6 seconds faster? 😉

Sprints and a Birthday

Today the Vikings hosted the annual Oxford Hills 1k Sprints and 3k at Roberts Farm, which is always a very well attended and exciting race. This year was no different and it was so much fun! The format is unusual - bracket racing for skiers. The day starts with a time trial. The top 48 skiers are then split up into heats of 6, with only the top 3 moving on to the next elimination, and so on until we have a winner. If they prefer, skiers can choose to race in a 3k instead. Sprinting isn't really his strength, but he decided to forego the longer race and try anyway. He made it into the first round of eliminations, and did his best. I am so proud of him!
I felt very fortunate that we were able to spend the day together, especially since it is big brother's 19th birthday! He came home from college for the day so that he could help at the races, which was much appreciated. Happy birthday!!

Before the rain...

I figured if the weather is going to be half as bad as they're predicting this weekend, then I needed to play in this beautiful snow one more time today!

I always keep my skis in the car (along with my skates and snowshoes!) just in case I have a chance to use them, and I was able to squeeze in a quick 2 mile ski 😁 Yay! I wasn't exactly dressed appropriately, but who cares?
It was a helluva workout. Climbing the hills at Roberts Farm is always humbling, but the weather was perfect, the trails were gorgeous, and the scenery can't be beat!

Dining to Donate II

This evening the Nordic team held a Dining to Donate at our local Applebee's Restaurant. A portion of the cost for each delicious meal will be given to the team for their Fort Kent training trip. The kids had also gathered up some items for a silent auction, which was very popular. It was a really fun evening spent visiting with family and friends! And, we raised a lot of money for the team. Definitely a win-win situation!
