He almost missed his start, but was there ever a question that he would finish? He has more strength and determination than anyone I've ever known!
An (almost) daily look at our lives in a small town in the Western Foothills of Maine.

Sea to Summit
I finally put together all our 'bling'. Those were 2 great races, and I'm so glad that we were able to run them together!

Millinockett Marathon & Half
Last year I photographed this great event that raises funds and spirits in this pretty little town. Watching everyone cross the finish line with happy faces despite the harsh conditions made me determined to heal my body and join them this year! It was hard work, but it was all worth it to be out there in that beautiful wilderness with so many great people. I was so glad to be out there today!
He might have been feeling a bit anxious walking up to the start of the marathon...it was COLD!!

We didn't run that far, but we borrowed the sign to pose for a photo because that runner on the left is a musher friend. I couldn't wait to show his wife the pic! We had a good laugh over it!
I think he was happy to be done! He didn't know it at the time, but he placed 3rd in his age group again. Awesome!
We were definitely feeling a sense of accomplishment when they gave us our Sea to Summit Medals for completing both the MDI and Millinockett courses this fall. Whew!
This one reminds me of the song we used to sing in Girl Scouts: 'Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold.' It was so awesome to see a friend from my team penning days run her first half marathon and love every minute of it! And kudos to my running partner for doing it despite having a terrible chest cold. Now that's strength!

This is cani-cross!
This was a heavily contested race and they took off fast...
Shark and Nate charged to a third place finish!
Nova hooked herself up to our friends' 'King' Endo and won the women's race!
We had so much fun splashing through all the puddles. I love this sport!!

Metallak North Country Adventure Race
ran...
paddled...
ran again...
hopped back onto the bike to head off into the woods...
and once out of the woods...
paddled again...
then changed shoes again...
ran/hiked up the mountain...
and then...
finally biked to the finish line!
It was an amazing day spent watching these incredible athletes continuing to push through pain, fatigue, and more pain in order to accomplish such a feat of strength! I'm very proud of my man.

Om-a-can Can-oe Triathlon
Our first event this morning - watching him do his thing on the bike, running, and then paddling a kayak. Well, actually miss that first part because we're going to be running ourselves...

Save a Stray 5k
This morning we all raced at LL Bean. They each won their divisions and Amber & I almost broke the 30 minute mark, despite 4 water stops! What a fun run!!

We did it!
Today's adventure was a real challenge, but we did it! Nate and I dropped Ed off at Dolly Copp to start his run across the Presidential Traverse, while we hiked straight up Mount Washington via Tuckerman's Ravine to meet him. Then, we hiked together back to Crawford Notch so that he could bag all of the peaks along the way! Whew!! We're beyond exhausted, but it was such an amazing day.

Productive Day
Today they took out the rotten sections, and replaced them with new fencing. And yes, he's being productive too - it all needs to be burned and someone has to supervise the fire!
