Just look at him now...

Cooper's at school today! His new owners are making sure that the next generation knows what a yak is...and I think it's wonderful to see him again! Thanks for sharing, Chris!!

Letting go...

Lily is still out there calling, but her grumpy wooly buddy is not here. His dreams were bigger than my little farm. He is headed to Georgia, and listing with a casting agency - he wants to be on the big screen! You can watch for him at Animal Casting Atlanta.
Good luck Cooper!

Seriously though, a huge thank you to our friend Cassidy for her help with this difficult decision. I'm confident that he is headed to a great new home (It actually sounds fantastic!) per your recommendation. Given the circumstances I couldn't ask for anything more!

My Yak is Itchy

He won't let me pet Lily at all. His wool is starting to come out, so he wants ALL the scractching!

Sharing breakfast with this crew...

I let them have ALL of the hay, but they let me eat some of the apples and bread that I brought for their special treat!

Time for a trim...

He was kinda grumpy about it, but she has plenty of patience, thank goodness!

Cooper's First Trim

Lily was watching the farrier very closely to make sure that she did a good job!

Lesson Time

Cooper is learning how to stand still while tied up.  It wasn't going very well, so I brought out Lily to show him how it's done.  As you can see, she was not impressed.

2 Peas in a Pod

We're so pleased with how well Cooper has settled in here.  He & Lily are getting along great.  She is having no problem with sharing her pen & stall with him at all.  Once he learned that she prefers to have her own space, he stopped crowding her and she stopped fussing at him.  It will be interesting to see how well they will both fit into the stall once he's fully grown though.

Learning about personal space...

Cooper (we had to rename him because Cupid wasn't 'manly' enough) was very lonely this morning, so I took down the fence separating him from Lily.  They are doing very well together, except that he thought that she was his new mama!  Oops.  There was no way she was letting him get under her belly!  So, today he has been learning that horses require a bit more personal space than his yak family did.  He's a smart boy though, and he's figuring it out.  This is about as close as she'll let him get, until he learns his manners.
