Finish Line Charge

I've written about it before - the kid comes down to the finish line like a freight train and there is no stopping him. I know that he's regaining his confidence because that final charge is back!

He's back!

He had a great race today in the mile - 5:06.35. You could see his confidence and strength increasing as he ran away from his competitors and ran better than he has so far this season. It was incredibly heartwarming to see how happy his coach and friends were for him! They know as well as I do that he has been struggling to get back to feeling good on the track. I love how encouraging & supportive they are!

There's nothing that tastes better after a long, hot day at the track. It's our favorite treat!

Today she competed in the Andy Valley Middle School Championships and won both the Long Jump (14' 7") and Triple Jump (30' 3"). 

It was just amazing to watch her push herself to the limit and reach for that sand!

A Strong Finish & A New Personal Record

The kiddos have gotten so much better at pacing themselves that they can 'fight' off challengers coming down the backstretch to the finish line!

Her Triple Jump efforts today ended with a massive leap of 29 feet 2 inches!

...in less than 12 minutes.  Yup.  You read that right!

She set a goal for herself...

And nailed it.  This is what it looks like to jump 13 feet 6 inches!

This evening Oxford Hills hosted a track meet, which my son competed in.  This is his first year on the team and it has been a learning experience.  Except for the running part...he already knew he liked that.  Although he still prefers the longer distances.  Here he is at the finish line for the 3200 meter run(2-miler), sprinting past another runner!

This morning the organizers of the Mid-Winter 10 Mile Classic asked if anyone had seen the shirt being worn...I just had to post this picture of my step-daughter wearing it that very day!  She's quite proud of that shirt - she worked HARD for it!!
