This time of year they are staying indoors and therefore feeling cooped up and grumpy. They keep fighting, so they need to keep their distance. However, they have figured out a way to each get some love without getting too close to each other!

Old cat vs. new cat

I wonder if there wasn't a hole in the door if either of them would have even known that the other was there! It took them a few minutes of yowling before they realized they could walk in opposite directions to get away from each other. It was quite humorous. (for us humans anyway.)
