Pinnacle Picnic with Lily
It was a beautiful day, so we saddled up Lily, filled her saddlebags with food & drinks, and headed up the hill to the Pinnacle for a picnic. We all took turns riding Lily and had an awesome adventure!

Hay! JUMP!!
Today was his first 'home' meet for cross-country. His team helped to build the course at Roberts Farm in Norway. It was a loop trail that went out through the woods, which they ran around twice. After the first loop, they would run back into the field near the start/finish line, make a big turn, and then head back into the woods. Coach added a stack of hay bales into that big turn, thinking it would be interesting to see how many of the competitors would actually jump them. My boy was one of the jumpers! The best part were the huge grins that each of the kids wore upon landing that jump. It must have been FUN!

Mist on the Lake
This morning I drove down to Lake Pennesseewassee to watch the sun burn away the fog over the water...

Flouride at Work
That sticker on his shoulder meant more time with me this morning! His cleaning with the dentist overlapped his scheduled lunch time at school, so we visited the local bike shop, and once the 1/2 hour was up, we ate lunch together, which was a nice treat!

1st Cross-Country Meet
He had a great time this afternoon, and shared some wisdom with us when he got home...there were some pretty girls on the other teams, but man, he'd never be able to catch them! If he even wanted to, that is...

She made him the Oreo Pudding Pie he wanted...
Too bad the rest of us won't get to enjoy it!
Just kidding. There was a cover on it - they were just play-acting. Silly kiddos!

Oldest Gravestone?
We believe that this is the oldest gravestone in West Paris, perhaps even Oxford County? It is located in the cemetery on Ellingwood Hill. My boys are quite fascinated by it!

Family History
My aunt recently sent me this photo of my Great-great-great Grandfather. It is dated October 1864, and was taken at Camp Berry in South Portland, Maine. From his memoirs, which he related to my great-aunt before he passed away of old age, we learned that he fought with the 8th Maine Regiment during the Civil War. His memories led me on a journey through the South many years ago, where I visited several battlegrounds and searched through many military libraries for books that would corroborate his stories. As it turned out, he remembered it all very well. The battles that he spoke of really did happen, as did so many of the other hardships that he and the other men faced. I named my oldest son after him.

Halestorm Rocks
This evening a bunch of us girls headed to Portland to see my favorite band, Halestorm, play at the State Theatre.
As usual, they put on an awesome show and we loved every minute of it!
I worked my way through the crowd until I was in the front row...that's where I wanna be!
Lzzy has such an amazing voice. She sang 2 of their songs without the rest of the band accompanying her. It felt so up-close and personal with her playing the piano right there in front of us.
Her brother, Arejay, is the drummer for the band. He is awesome to watch play - so much energy, so much talent and so much fun! During his drum solo, he was actually jumping up and down, and while this is not a great photo because I took it with my phone, I can't believe that I actually got a shot of him way up in the air! And he never missed a beat.
SCORE! I got a pick and Pam got a stick!!

I'm so glad it waited until we got home...
The clivia plant in the living room is now in full bloom and we would have been bummed if we missed it!

Oops!
We brought a 20 foot lunge rope so that Amber could swim and chase sticks that we threw in the water, but we could stay dry up on shore. I might have thrown that stick a little bit too far! She yanked him right off the rock he was standing on! Sorry!!
