He ran his 1st half-marathon today!
And, even though he started way in the back because he was afraid that he couldn't go the distance, he finished 28th out of 338 with a time of 1:36.13. I couldn't be more proud of his efforts!

It's the first day of spring...brrr!
But, our favorite ice cream shop opened up for the season today, so we had to stop for ice cream anyway!

If big brother can do it...
Big brother had so much fun racing yesterday morning that she had to try it too, and in our pretty new purple skijor belt.
It's a good thing Amber has plenty of energy!

Paintball Biathlon
This morning, for the first time in team history, they participated in a biathlon and they had a fantastic time! 2 of the girls placed 1st and 2nd, and our older son won the boys' race!

Lesson Time
Cooper is learning how to stand still while tied up. It wasn't going very well, so I brought out Lily to show him how it's done. As you can see, she was not impressed.

Finally, he can wear it!
Last year the coach encouraged me to purchase this jacket for him - in case someone else couldn't make it to the competition weekend and he got called to race, and also because it would provide him with more incentive to work hard and qualify this year. That's what happened. He didn't get called up, but he absolutely refused to wear it until he actually made the team! So, for the last year he has been looking at it hanging in his closet as he steadily increased his fitness, strength, and racing speed. He kept mentioning to me that someday he would be able to wear that jacket. Today, he was so excited and proud to put it on!

In like a lamb...
The first day of March was mild, so the conditions were perfect for another biathlon at Roberts Farm Preserve! A whole lot of friends showed up to race this morning and we had such a great time racing each other through the woods and shooting as accurately as possible so as to avoid skiing penalty laps. He skied super fast (despite racing twice yesterday!) and won the 3x1k! I had more competition this time, but placed 2nd out of 6 other women! And, we had such a great time joking and laughing as we raced. What a great way to play in the snow and enjoy winter!
