Back at it...
Yesterday afternoon the doctor gave me permission to get rid of the cast and start working it. So, here I am, back at the gym!

Temps in the Teens
It felt like a heat wave, so we headed to the beach! And there we discovered that even Santa had stripped down!!

New View
We're not real pleased about all the logging that is going on up the road, but it sure has improved the view coming down the hill!

Black Mountain
Last summer we ran a 5k to raise funds for the small ski resort, Black Mountain. We're awfully glad that we did. We went up there yesterday afternoon to see big brother qualify as an alternate for the Maine J2 team, which will travel to Vermont to compete against skiers from all over New England. He was quite impressed with their Nordic course, as he should be since it is International quality and they also host Olympic qualifiers. And...the younger kiddos finally got to play on the slopes!

Let's try a biathlon!
This morning Roberts Farm Preserve hosted a biathlon, which is an event that we have long wanted to try...
What we discovered is that although little brother may not be able to ski as fast, he can shoot better, which means fewer penalty laps! He didn't miss a single target, which really impressed all the rifle attendants, as well as his grandfather who taught him how to shoot.
He was pretty darn proud. (And so was Grammie, of course.)
They all placed in their divisions and earned some really cool trophies:

Vitamin D Deficiency
You know you're desperate for sunshine when it's only 15 degrees out, but you've got the sunroof open anyway!

Quick Ski Together
Time was short, but the new falling snow made for such perfect conditions that they just had to squeeze in some skiing this morning!

Home Meets are the Best!
Today the high school team raced at Roberts Farm in Norway. (The same place they raced last fall during Cross-Country Running Season.) It was a beautiful day and I was able to carefully hobble my way to the course. I'm so glad that I got to see his race - he came in 3rd. Whoo hoo!!

I'm a Cyborg
According to the x-rays, my ankle is healing quite nicely. Today the doctor told me that I can start 'range of motion' exercises and putting some (not all) of my weight on it. As much as I can tolerate anyway. Definitely a step in the right direction!

Look out!
Yesterday's rain was followed today by warm sunshine, which made for sticky snow that was perfect for an epic battle!

Homegrown Ice Hockey
Today's freezing rain created a wicked icy yard. The kids took advantage and played ice hockey with their ski poles. Once Dad got home from work, he helped them to make actual hockey sticks and pucks:
...and then played until they were completely soaking, wringing wet.
Even Dad got into the game!

Guilt Trip
My office is on the third floor and full of beautiful plants. When I broke my ankle, my boss was kind enough to set up a desk on the first floor for me, so that I could return to work. Unfortunately, she's not so good at tending plants. But, she's really good at making me feel bad. We will all be so happy when I return to the third floor!

Plaque
This morning we were treated to breakfast by the Rotary Club, the sponsors of the Student of the Month Program. It was so nice to hear the nomination from his teachers!
